unbelievably so
and when they blinked down at her
it was like an explosion and he knew
all that was happening in her little head
though she couldn't quite figure it out herself
even as she got top marks in all her classes
and marked herself up consistently in red pen
like a paper
her teachers enumerating her insecurities with their
ballpoints and him erasing them with his
eyes
